Filtered through a practice of material salvage and recuperation, Tegan Moore’s sculpture and installation examines underlying complexities in the built environment. Through granular, intuitive, and research based investigations her work intricately centres peripheral matter. She is interested in breaking down value structures, chemical properties, industry schemas, and their effects on various systems. Projects are presented primarily through architectural interventions that highlight the ways built space is designed to support or deny certain conditions.
Moore also has a collaborative practice as part of The Synthetic Collective, an interdisciplinary group of artists, writers, philosophers, and scientists who research plastics pollution in the Laurentian Great Lakes Region. Their work follows plastics through from production and consumption to disposal and disaggregation. Focusing on some of the less visible aspects of plastic becoming waste, they investigate industry sources of pollution, how plastics degrade in museum collections, and the waste footprint of exhibition making.
She co-organized the project space Support, operating in London, Ontario (2017-2020) and Montreal (2021-2023) with Liza Eurich and Ruth Skinner.
